If you have ever been for a facial, it’s more than likely that the therapist has made you aware you need to drink more water. The reason for this is your skin is an excellent indicator as to whether your body is dehydrated.
Water has a number of benefits for the body which are often be overlooked; these include improved energy and increased brain power. Our brains are made up of 73% water, therefore keeping your brain hydrated throughout the day will ensure you can think, concentrate and even be more alert than usual. Dehydration can have a significant impact on the way you feel, without enough water you can feel moody, down or emotional. It can reduce your cognitive or motor skills and also makes you more sensitive to pain. You may also find that without enough water, you start to forget things as it can greatly affect memory. Water can also help to boost your immune systems, as we mentioned previously it flushes out toxins, which helps to promote a strong immune system, making it easier for your body to fight any infections or virus’.
Drinking water promotes healthy skin, healthy weight management and can even help in the loss of weight – if this is something you want to aim for. Water has the ability to wash out all of the toxins in your body through urination and sweat. Now, the reason why water is so beneficial to your skin is that 60% of it is made up of water, therefore not drinking enough can cause your skin to go dry, flaky and tight. Something that you may not know, is that by leaving your skin dehydrated, you may also be more prone to early wrinkles.
If you are someone that has a skin disorder such as eczema or psoriasis, water helps to increase the metabolic rate which will help reduce pain or flaking skin. For more information on the benefits of water for your skin, health and hair we highly recommend having a read of Style Craze article.
As Spring is now upon us, we suggest planning how much water you want to drink a day. The recommended amount is 3 litres per day; although we don’t advise that you drink this all in one go. Space it out over the day, and it will make it so much more achievable. After two weeks of drinking enough water, you will soon notice a difference in the way your skin feels and appears.

It can be difficult to fit in the time to clean your makeup brushes and sponges, but it should really be done more regularly then you think. Using this time during lockdown is the perfect opportunity to get those make-up applicators sparkly clean!
If you are someone who applies makeup every day, think about all the makeup that may have built up on the brushes you could potentially be pushing around your skin. Not to mention all the oil that could be collecting on a day to day basis.
Brushes are often the ideal breeding ground for bacteria, after putting your make up on they are often left in a bag or in a brush holder, all of which can collect dust and dirt from around your room. By not cleaning your brushes on a regular basis you may find that your skin is more prone to regular breakout and in some more extreme cases, cause an infection on the skin. If you are suffering from either of these conditions, using a makeup brush which has not been cleaned will actually push the dirt around your face, therefore, clogging the pores much more.
We highly recommend setting aside one evening or day on the weekend to give your brushes and sponges a thorough clean. If you are a makeup brush user, there are a number of tools and products out there which can make your life a little easier when it comes to cleaning. stylePro have a product which helps to take the chore out of cleaning, it essentially cleans and dries brushes in under 30 seconds, which if you are a makeup artist is a fantastic tool. Something many people do not know, is that they can use Surgical Spirit to clean makeup brushes, after all, they do build up a lot of body dirt such as dead skin, oils and other forms of bacteria. Surgical spirit eliminates the risk of these types of dirt spreading. You could also consider looking at purchasing a Makeup Pro Brush Cleanse Tool which allows you to remove as much makeup from the brush as possible using soap.

One of our favourite things we think you should make time for is scheduling in a pamper session every now and then. A little self-love can go a long way in making you feel so much better, taking the time out to do something for yourself which will make you feel relaxed provides a whole host of benefits.
Whether you wish to have a bath once a week or decide to book yourself in for beauty services in Milton Keynes, you should always take time out to give yourself space to breathe, think and most of all relax. Taking the time to be alone with your thoughts promotes better creativity and productivity, you will notice that by taking a couple of hours out to do something you want to do will mean you can get more done in the day or week. We have many clients who book themselves in for regular treatments so they can enjoy a little pampering. They often leave our gorgeous salon not only looking fabulous but feeling great.

Some people’s pride and joy are the locks they have on their head; however, not everyone takes the time to give their hair the loving care it really needs. A lot of the products we use on a daily basis to style our hair will often cause a significant amount of damage and in some cases can strip our hair of the natural nutrients it needs.
Dehydration is a massive problem when it comes to our hair. You may be thinking that all you need to do is drink water, and while water may help in the hair department, it’s not always what your hair needs and wants. Using regular heat, our diets, excess washing and stress are all things that can damage our hair and cause dehydration. If you have been noticing over the last couple of months, your hair becoming brittle, dry and starting to break, then you may want to make time for some hair care.
When it comes to hair care, there are a few things you need to consider. Having a regular haircut is definitely one. You may think that the whole 6-week haircut run is a myth, and while we are not suggesting that you book in for a haircut every six weeks, it could be worthwhile booking in for a cut every two months. The reason why a regular haircut is essential, is that your hair naturally starts to split towards the ends no matter how long your hair is, and using heat will increase the rate in which this happens. If you have longer hair, the hair towards the ends is relatively old, and much like many old things, it becomes fragile and weak, which is why it needs attention and care. If you colour or highlight your hair, your locks are also more likely to become damaged, which may result in regular haircuts being required. A hair cut essentially gets rid of all the splits and cracks in the hair, preventing them from creeping up your locks and causing further damage.
Your hair is a bit different to your skin and does not actually need as much attention. While there are many expensive products on the market, there are plenty you can purchase in your local drugstore which will do exactly the same thing without the hefty price tag. We recommend to set aside the time once a week to give your hair the nutrients it needs through the like of deep conditioners. Redken Extreme Strength Builder provides your hair with not only a deep condition but it also strengthens the hair. Kérastase Nutritive Masquintense cheveux épais also provides your hair with deep nourishment by working with your natural oils and filling the hair with protective fibres. If you are wanting a hair mask without having to go to the supermarket or drug store, then there are plenty of alternatives you can look at making at home. Check out Luxy Hair for their range of homemade hair masks which promote healthy hair along with strong and thick hair growth.

SPF is essential for your skin, and not many people use them, but with regular exposure to UV light, your skin is more prone to premature ageing. We tend only to wear an SPF during the summer when it gets a little hot outside, or we go on holiday, but really we should be using them every day.
Sunscreen is used to block both UVB and UVA rays which can be harmful and damaging to the skin. An SPF factor depends on how long it will take for the sun to burn your skin. For example, if you are going to wear an SPF 15, it will take 15 times longer for your skin to burn. It may come as a shock, but even on a cloudy, cold or snowy day, your skin can still become damaged and burnt from the sun.
Many moisturisers, foundations and other forms of makeup will have some sort of SPF in them; however, they are not as strong as they should be and can not guarantee your face is safe from the sun. We highly recommend purchasing a sole sunscreen specifically for your face; The Ordinary do a great mineral UV protector which is SPF 30, and is applied under your make up.
